What's New?

  • Kaylie has gotten three new teeth--two molars and a front bottom one so she now has 10. Ryan hasn't gotten any more so he is at 8.

  • Kaylie has taken 5 controlled steps on her own now. Some of her other steps have been more of stumbles. Today was the first time I saw her let go of something and take steps. Usually we have to coax her to walk between Bob & myself. We're slowly getting there. I have to get that video camera out.

  • They both got their first splinters and guess who had the lovely task of removing them? Me! It actually wasn't bad at all but not something I want to do daily. My fault for letting them play on the deck.

  • We had a NICU follow up appointment today. Overall they are on track for everything except speech. They feel they are still lagging behind. Kaylie more than Ryan. So once again, I will get them evaluated and see what happens. Last time Kaylie didn't qualify. I'm not sure what else to do. We sing, talk, and read A LOT! They understand the things you are saying so that is a good sign. I guess I left the appointment a little down. It kind of hurts to hear your child is behind. I want a magic wand to make it better.

  • Their Halloween costumes arrived today....but I'm not telling what they will be! You'll have to wait. Kaylie loves hers. She wouldn't put it down. We even took it in the car to the NICU appointment.

ADORABLE picture of the babies! They are getting so big!

Try not to let it get you too down yet. I would bet she still won't be eligable. My twins are almost a year older than yours and although we have known for quite some time that Will is behind, they don't start spech until they turn 2. So, chances are they will just tell you to keep doing what you are doing.

Liz, for as early as your babies were, they are doing FANTASTIC!!!!

don't let the nicu appointment get you down, kaylie and ryan are doing so freaking wonderful! really! all babies develop at their own pace, full-term or preemie. in fact, i used to babysit for a little guy who didn't talk until at least 2. i know it is still hard to hear, so just hang in there and know that i am sending you a big old hug!

please don't let the NICU appt get you down. Your babies really do seem to be doing so well.

Babies really do develop at different rates.

I truly believe that all babies just develop at their own pace and that it isn't always "on time". The boys are not standing on their own yet or taking steps but they do other things so I just try and roll with it. I KNOW it is easier said than done though :) BTW I LOVE that pic! The boys tend to play almost on top of each other too!

Can't wait to see their Halloween costumes! I'm still deciding what to get Jude.... I'm thinking he's going to be a hedgehog.

I'm glad everything went well at the appt. I think some of these appointments make us worry more than anything. Yay for the steps and teeth!

hey liz, first off love that pic...how do you get them to look at the same time...lol

I'm sorry about their NICU follow up appt. my boys will be 2 in dec and were not born early and still are not talking..not even really showing signs of wanting to talk. Its so hard not to get upset, but I keep telling myself they will talk when they are ready. I know my situation is a little diff, but I do undestand what you are feeling.

can't wait to see what the kids will be for halloween.
