May 2011

May is always a busy month with tons of family birthdays and R & K's birthday too!

Pop Pop had a triple bypass surgery at the end of April, so the kids went to visit and make sure he was doing well. Here they are using the doctor kit to examine the patient. Thankfully Pop Pop is doing just fine.

Even an orange needs to have a check up.

Here everyone is celebrating MY 35th birthday. I think this was also Mother's Day. The kids let me sleep in, picked out their own cards ( I got a Rapunzel birthday card. My favorite.) and they helped Daddy make breakfast in bed for me.

May always brings trips to the shorehouse. Feeding the ducks never gets old.

Just a fun licking the beater pic!

The kids had their end of year concert. Kaylie didn't sing a word, but did do some hand motions and shook her maracas. Ryan did some singing and instrument playing.

Prelude to Easter

In the weeks leading up to Easter, the kids attended an Easter egg hunt at Grandma's work. They posed for a picture with the Easter Bunny--just standing next to him. They didn't want to get on his lap and as usual didn't want to smile either. After, we visited with Grandma & Pop Pop and played in their yard.

We also dyed Easter eggs for the first time. They were really into it and loved watching them turn colors. I should have boiled more than a dozen eggs, but no one in our house eats them so I didn't want to waste them. They didn't even want to try a taste.

I love how you can see Ryan's excitement as he drops an egg into the dye.

Ok and this has nothing to do with Easter, but it happened last month. Since they love her music so much, we took them to The Laurie Berkner Band Birthday concert. We saw them last year as well. Our seats were great--4th row & center! Ryan sat mesmerized by the lights and instruments for most of the concert. Kaylie seemed to enjoy it too although she didn't do any singing or dancing. She gets super quiet when we are in places with a lot of action going on--or anywhere for that matter. She is the shyest girl ever!

Weekend In Review

Saturday we attended The Laurie Berkner Band concert in Toms River, NJ with their cousins. The kids (and me & I think Daddy too) LOVE Laurie's music. She can often be seen on their favorite show, Jack's Big Music Show (which unfortunately is not in production anymore but you can still DVR it. It's on at 11:00 PM EST.)

I didn't get great pictures at all. Sadly, this is the best one. The concert was about an hour and twenty minutes long and the kids did great! I was so worried about Ryan wanting to run everywhere and not wanting to sit still. I brought some snacks and that seemed to be all they needed. They listened to the music, tuning out every now and then, but a favorite song would bring back their interest. We'd ask them, "Where's Laurie?" and they would point up to the stage. By the end, they were tired and ready to go.

After a nap, we went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. My sister gave me my nephew's Little Tikes Cozy Coupe car. Well, WWIII broked out over it. Needless to say, we headed over to Toys R Us to purchase another car. It was not pretty. Kaylie couldn't wait to get in it while Daddy put it together.

They dined outside on their picnic table (another hand me down).
Sunday, we just hung around at home and got to get outside again.
Do I look like some crazy driver to you?

This is a car jacking in progress, before it turned ugly. Despite getting the new car, we still can't seem to make up our minds about which car we want.

I'm ONE.
