August Recap

August continued with swimming, going to My Gym, and doing whatever it takes to keep two 3 year olds happy and entertained--that might also be read as Mommy forgets what we did.

I do know that we went to our town fair. We have gone three years now and every year we do something more each year. They did pony rides for the first time last year. This year we rode some of the rides. Of course we lament about how much more it costs us to go each year too!

Later in the month we headed for vacation. We went to Long Beach Island, NJ. We stayed at the same house we stayed at last year. It's right on the beach and so convenient to access the beach with kids and all the junk that comes along. If you have to go back to the house for something it really is no big deal. We all had a great time, despite some rainy days thrown into the mix. They especially liked playing with their cousins.

Kaylie loved the sand. The ocean--not so much. We did get her to try it one of the days and I think she actually liked it but was still frightened at the same time if that makes sense.

We had a few days of bad weather. So we had to make a road trip to a children's museum to pass the time. Although it was in a strange location, it kept them entertained and happy.

This picture might as well be a fake because we never got to go for our surrey ride. The bike had a flat tire and no other ones to rent!!! I was so disappointed. They didn't seem to mind that we didn't do it, but they were confused as to why they had to get off. They were all set to go. Maybe next year.

Ryan loved the sand too but did not want anything to do with the ocean. Again, ONE day we were able to get him to dip his foot in, but he wasn't having any more of that. I guess I have a pair of landlubbers.

The Little Mermaid

They played in the play area at the mall. In the third picture you can sort of see a carousel behind it. This is going to be my next M.O.M. accomplishment--to take them on the carousel myself. I was contemplating it while we were there (no one was around) and when I finally got up the nerve to do it, the ticket lady wasn't in the booth! I couldn't wait b/c I had two unleashed/unstrollered toddlers who were not waiting for anything!

Kaylie mostly spends her time sitting on this horse people watching. This time she actually did other stuff but the few other times we have been, she was on the horse watching.

Party Gym

We met up with Taylor and her mommy at a place called Party Gym. It's a great place for kids. They have climbers, ball pits, bouncing thing with tunnels, ride on toys, play kitchens--basically all kinds of things for kids to play with. Ryan & Kaylie loved it. I only got a few pics before I was running in two directions. Ry discovering he can climb on things--is the couch next?!?!

Even little Miss Kaylie got right into the action. She didn't need to do her usual warm up routine.

The pictures don't do the place justice. We will definitely be going back. It will be a great place to go in the winter months. I do dread the germs there however. Purell anyone?

Favorite Pastime

These days Ryan and Kaylie love to walk around with anything on their heads. It's pretty funny to watch. They like blankets, towels, mommy's shirts, and even their trick or treat bags. Whatever it is doesn't stay on for long so that means Mommy has to keep putting it on. Hey, whatever works.

Tales from the Crib

The other day they woke up from nap at the same time. If they are both up at the same time, I usually get one and bring them downstairs and then go get the other. This particular day I brought Kaylie into Ryan's room to play for a bit. She for some reason wanted to get in Ryan's crib, so I put her in. Then of course Ryan wanted back in. So then I threw in all their stuffed animals and they had a ball.
You've heard of Where's Waldo?...well this is, Where's Kaylie? No she's not really sleeping. The camera just caught her with her eyes closed.
Ry saying, "What happened to my crib, Mom?!"

Sprayground Fun

On Friday, Ryan & Kaylie met their friend, Taylor, at a park in our town. Bob came with me as well because I needed the extra hands and to spend time with family too, of course. The park is great!! It has a sprayground as well as a playground. A spraygound is a place that has all of these sprinklers, and water things for kids to play with. We don't have a good shot of the actual sprayground though. It's seriously the coolest invention and best of all it's free!! I'm going back on the 30th (weather permitting) so maybe then I will get one to show you all.

Ryan jumped right into the action. He sat for awhile just splashing the water around him and then he started to really warm up and walk around.


Kaylie took a little longer to warm up as usual, but she loved it once she got down on the ground.

Afterwards we went on the swings. Ryan was happy until I put Kaylie on the swing with him and well then let's just say it wasn't pretty.
