Ok so yesterday I got locked out of the house with the kids inside! I went out to start the car through the door leading to the garage. I still don't know what possessed me to do this. It wasn't that cold of a day. I only warmed the car up on the coldest of cold days in the winter, but for whatever reason I did it. Then I saw that Bob hadn't put the garbage out so I had to quickly put that out. I went to go back in and it was locked! Now I still do not know if the kids happened to have turned the lock (they were right there at the door waiting for me) or if the POS doorknob we have on the door got stuck. Either way I was locked out. Luckily, I am a "genius" and had a spare key in the garage and was able to get in without any problem. I was so ready to bust the door in though.
So my public service announcement of the day is to make sure you keep a spare key somewhere outside.

wow, I would've FREAKED! Thanks for the advice!!!
Thanks! I still need to do this. Glad you had a spare key.
Very scary. Thanks for the service announcement, I'm going to do that.
Gosh, lucky, well actually clever girl you! In South Africa, off course, you can not dare put a key anywhere where anyone can find it.
HOLY cow! That would totally freak me out!
When Keith was a toddler, he locked me out of the house and thankfully I was able to get one of the older kids to open it.
Very scary!
OMG! I would have freaked, too!
Actually, it was at about this time last year that I locked Jude in the car at the mall. I about died. Thank God that it wasn't summer and super hot outside!
Definitely scary! Our door out to the garage does the same thing for no apparent reason. Since the first time it happened (and I happened to have my keys on me) I never go outside for even a secong without my keys..freaked me out! Good thing you had the spare. Teachers are so smart;)
